This book is about why we need to move out from the model building paradigm and move into a new research mapping paradigm.

The author Alex Liu is an expert of methods and computing tools for quantitative social research. He also has a lot of practical experience in conducting empirical social research for academic institutes and for business organizations.

Mr. Alex Liu has a Ph.D. of Sociology and a M.S. of Statistical Computing from Stanford University. In the past, he taught advanced research methods for the Marshall School of Business in the University of Southern California and the Paul Merage School of Business in the University of California at Irvine. He also served as a research fellow for the Asia/Pacific Research Center at Stanford University, served as a research advisor to the IBM research, and served as a senior consultant to the Beyster Institute in the University of California at San Diego. At the same time, he provided consultation on business analytics to many big corporations including IBM, AOL, Indymac Bank, Farmers Insurance and Ingram Micro.

Dr. Liu received many awards including Fulbright Fellowship, Nakamura Postdoctoral Fellowship, United States Students Association Outstanding Award, Media Alliance Non-profit Campaign Awardand AIU Online Faculty Award.
